BEETROOT

A fertility superfood; Beetroot supports healthy oxygen levels in the blood and is a great source of the antioxidant resveratrol, which protects against age related infertility.

CO-ENZYME Q10

Female fertility decreases with age due to a decline in the number and quality of available eggs. CoQ10 is directly involved in this process. CoQ10 production slows as you age, making the body less effective at protecting the eggs from oxidative damage. Supplementing with CoQ10 helps and may even reverse this agerelated decline in egg quality and quantity, and when given during pregnancy, has been shown to reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia.

VITAMIN B1

Thiamine contributes to normal psychological function. Vitamin B1 is extremely important when planning to conceive, and deficiency could be a factor in infertility and miscarriage by contributing to low-quality oocytes, a study from Japan has found. Food sources: whole grains, and found in most raw or lightly cooked foods. Cooking can reduce thiamin in two ways. Thiamin is destroyed by heat. Also, thiamin is easily leached out of food by water.

VITAMIN B2

Riboflavin contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress as well as a reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Food sources: The best sources for riboflavin are whole grains and green leafy vegetables; Spinach, broccoli, chard, and asparagus are all rich sources of riboflavin. Almonds and soybeans are good sources. Dairy products have large amounts of riboflavin.

VITAMIN B2

Like all B-vitamins, niacin is required to help you maintain optimal health, supporting your fertility. In studies, niacin was found to promote ovarian follicle growth, reducing the risk of oocyte apoptosis and overall infertility. Food sources: Cooked whole grains, legumes, and seeds are preferred sources of niacin; Enriched grains, mushrooms, leafy green vegetables, and nutritional yeast are other good sources. Niacin is not stored in the body.

VITAMIN B5

Pantothenic acid contributes to normal synthesis and metabolism of steroid hormones, vitamin D and some neurotransmitters. Pantothenic acid contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Main function: energy metabolism.

VITAMIN B6

Main function: building amino acids and fatty acids, assist with the regulation of hormonal activity and support female hormonal health generally. Vitamin B6 is depleted by alcohol drinking and smoking. Vitamin B6 contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and the regulation of hormonal activity.

D-BIOTIN

Your body needs Biotin to help convert certain nutrients into energy. It also supports gene expression and contributes to normal psychological function. Naitre uses a pure, nature-identical form of Biotin to meet the adequate intake recommendations during conception and pregnancy. Marginal biotin shortfalls are common during pregnancy.

VITAMIN C

For women, vitamin C can help rectify low progesterone levels, luteal phase defects and help enhance her eggs’ health, making fertilisation easier.

For optimal vitamin C levels to be reached, vitamin C rich food must be consumed daily as the body cannot make it and cannot store it. If the diet does not meet the daily vitamin C needs, supplements should be added with liposomal types offering better absorption.

VITAMIN D

The NHS recommends Vitamin D supplementation for women trying to conceive; at a dose of 10 micrograms (400 IU) per day. Vitamin D can be naturally made by the body from adequate exposure to sunlight, but unfortunately in the UK, this is unlikely to be sufficient outside the summer months. Naitre uses a Certified Vegan D3 ingredient made from sustainably sourced lichen. It’s a superior, readily absorbable form of vegan vitamin D3.

VITAMIN E

Vitamin E can help increase a couple's odds of conceiving as it increases cervical mucus in women, allowing sperm to stay alive longer. It also enhances the efficiency of male reproductive systems. Vitamin E can also be advantageous for men and women who are undergoing fertility treatment.

VITAMIN K

Similar to Vitamin D, Vitamin K2 is another fat-soluble vitamin that has several benefits for fertility. It turns out that Vitamin K2 is an essential nutrient for both men and women in their reproductive years. Current research shows that Vitamin K2 benefits PCOS, low sperm count, and prenatal development. Additionally, Vitamin K2 may play an important role in reducing the severity of endometriosis.

CHROMIUM

Chromium picolinate is useful in patients experiencing PCOS to reduce insulin resistance and stimulate ovulation.

MAGNESIUM

In a number of studies, women with infertility have been found to have low levels of magnesium in their blood, and in one particular study women who were supplemented with magnesium and selenium all became pregnant within 8 months.

Naitre uses magnesium malate, a highly bioavailable form of magnesium.

MANGANESE

A diet low in manganese may increase the risk for anovulation, or failure of the ovary to release an egg during a menstrual cycle.

Manganese can help to protect cells, such as the oocyte (the immature egg in the ovary) and the embryo at critical stages of the reproductive cycle.

SELENIUM

Selenium acts as a potent antioxidant that helps to protect maternal DNA, as well as proteins and lipids from oxidative damage.

Selenium, along with Naitre’s other powerful antioxidants can help to protect cells, such as the oocyte (the immature egg in the ovary) and the embryo at critical stages of the reproductive cycle.

ZINC

Zinc controls oestrogen and progesterone levels and helps support a healthy reproductive system. Low maternal levels of zinc have been directly linked to miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy.

Zinc plays a very important role in female reproduction. The body needs zinc to make proteins and DNA - the genetic material in all cells.

Naitre uses Zinc Gluconate a readily absorbable form.

IODINE

Iodine is taken up avidly by the ovary and endometrium, which explains why Iodine deficiency is associated with reduced female fertility.

Studies have demonstrated that Iodine supplementation has been shown to improve conception rates in couples with unexplained infertility (UI).

Naitre uses Iodine that is the pharmaceutical-grade form, from Potassium Iodide.

MACA

Peruvian Maca is a vegetable as well as a traditional herbal medicine derived from the roots of a perennial plant (Lepidium meyenii) that grows in high altitudes of Peru and is used to promote health and improve wellness, sexual function and fertility.

Maca works to help balance female hormones, improve regularity of cycles, enhance ovulation, and support sexual function.

BETA CAROTENE

Beta-carotene is a completely safe source of vitamin A for pregnant women, which is important for normal cell differentiation, the normal functioning of the immune system plus normal metabolism of Iron.

Sources: Beta-carotene is plentiful in yellow and orange vegetables and fruit. Green vegetables also are rich in betacarotene.

N-ACETYL CYSTEINE

N-Acetyl Cysteine is an amino acid that is recommended in conception. N-Acetyl Cysteine supports an important biochemical process called ‘methylation’' which has a significant positive impact on the reproductive system.

This process plays a vital role in fertility and the development of your baby in the early weeks of pregnancy. N-Acetyl Cysteine may improve fertility in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) by inducing or augmenting the ovulation cycle.

L-CARNATINE

L-Carnitine is a crucial amino acid that has been reported to have beneficial impacts on reproductive functions through its potent antioxidative effects, reducing cellular stress, maintaining hormonal balance and enhancing energy production.

VITAMIN B6

Vitamin B6 contributes to normal psychological function, normal functioning of the immune system, reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and more importantly to the regulate healthy hormonal activity.

VITAMIN B12

Vitamin B12 – helps to maintain the normal production and metabolism of men’s reproductive hormones.

Deficiency of vitamin B12 is not usually from lack of intake, but rather from lack of absorption. Inadequate hydrochloric acid in the stomach will prevent vitamin B12 from being released from dietary proteins so it cannot be utilised.

D-BIOTIN

Biotin is known as the energy catalyst. Your body needs biotin to help convert nutrients into energy in the mitochondria of the cell.

The name biotin is taken from the Greek word bios, which means ‘life’.

FOLATE (QUATREFOLATE)

While there is clear research on the benefits of folic acid for fertility in women, the research is mixed when it comes to folic acid and male fertility.

Some studies have suggested a link between folic acid intake and male fertility. In particular, a double-blind study led by Dr. Wai Yee Wong of the University Medical Center Nijmegen in the Netherlands studied men struggling with male factor infertility. They found that those who had been taking folic acid and zinc supplements for 26 weeks experienced a 74% increase in the amount of normal sperm in their semen. This study suggests that folic acid can actually improve the quality of a man’s sperm while lowering the risk of sperm abnormalities that could interfere with conception.

VITAMIN C

Along with all the well known health benefits of vitamin C, This incredible antioxident vitamin also has important effects on male reproductive health. It's known to reduce sperm DNA damage as well as improve sperm count, sperm motility, and sperm morphology.

VITAMIN D3

Men with fertility problems frequently lack vitamin D. Vitamin D is produced in our skin as a response to sunlight, however, for those of us in the UK, the sun's ultraviolet rays are too weak throughout Autumn and Winter for our bodies to create sufficient amounts. Naitre uses a Certified Vegan D3 ingredient made from sustainably sourced lichen, unlike the commonly used sheep's wool or fish liver oil. It’s a superior, readily absorbable form of vegan vitamin D3.

VITAMIN E

Studies show that vitamin E supplementation significantly improves sperm motility. Studies also suggest that vitamin E together with vitamin C support the biochemical pathways leading to nitric oxide (NO) release, improving erectile function.

The main form of vitamin E is alpha-tocopherol. Tocopherols are essential to maintain fertility health. The word tocopherol means “to bear offspring”.

VITAMIN K

Fat-soluble vitamin K2 is essential for male fertility. Osteocalcin, which stimulates testosterone production and is required for sperm production and survival, depends on vitamins D and K2.

CHROMIUM

The human body requires chromium as a cofactor for a variety of important enzymes, deficiencies of this trace element have been associated with reduced sperm quality.

MAGNESIUM

It was found in vivo that magnesium increases the sperm motility, while the sperm production may increase by up to 80%.

Magnesium has a role in the process of cell division, normal psychological function as well as contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

SELENIUM

Selenium is widely recognised for its importance for normal sperm production (spermatogenesis). Research into male fertility has also shown that selenium benefits the structural integrity of sperm and can protect the DNA within sperm from oxidative stress.

ZINC

Zinc is very important for male fertility. Zinc, is found in high concentrations in sperm and is a key building-block for both its tail and outer-layer. Zinc is lost in the semen, so needs to be replenished regularly. Naitre uses Zinc Gluconate a readily absorbable form.

CO-ENZYME Q10

To increase the likelihood of an egg getting fertilised, sperm must have a strong forward movement and shape. Coenzyme Q10 is of critical importance in the provision of energy for sperm cell mobility. It is a powerful fat-soluble antioxidant found in virtually all cell membranes.

MACA

Studies have shown that Peruvian Maca helps support sexual function and improve sperm quality, count & motility.

This hardy plant has been cultivated for over 2000 years, high in the Peruvian Andes and has a long tradition of an effective aphrodisiac and fertility enhancer.

Maca root extract works well with EGCg (green tea extract) to increase male libido, sperm count, and strength.

L-ARGANINE

L-Arginine is a semi-essential amino acid, which has a stabilising effect on the DNA inside the sperm and plays an important role in cell division and growth.

L-Arginine benefits motile sperm and maintains male fertility health. This amino acid also helps to promote strong erections.

N-ACETYL CYSTEINE

This amino acid is necessary in many metabolic processes, including spermatogenesis.

It is associated with improving many sperm health parameters: motility, count, concentration, and morphology.

L-CARNATINE

L-Carnitine is absolutely essential for the energy metabolism in cells. Sperm in particular needs lots of energy in order to continue to swim.

Studies have demonstrated that Lcarnitine level in seminal plasma plays an essential role in maintaining male fertility. In one study, when L-carnitine is supplemented in men, after three months, every single participant had improved their sperm quality.

GREEN TEA EXTRACT

EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate – green tea) at low doses improves measures of sperm quality, including count and motility.

Green tea may also boost fertility by reducing the formation of free radicals and preventing DNA damage to cells, including spermatozoa.

PINE BARK EXTRACT

Pine Bark Extract acts as a multifunctional health support with proven benefits for blood circulation and sperm quality and function. Known for its extraordinary anti-oxidative properties it can help to protect the genome against free radicals. Pine Bark Extract can also improve erectile function and enhance sexual desire.

CORDYCEPS

A traditional Chinese fertility booster, Cordyceps has been prized for thousands of years as a vitality enhancer, increasing stamina, wellbeing and sexual function. Shown in clinical studies to improve sexual drive, virility and enhance testosterone production.
